    Join us for an afternoon with Sarah Ward, author of the critically acclaimed In Bitter Chill and A Deadly Thaw. Sarah will talk about the popularity of crime novels, what attracts us to the darkest deeds, and her own books which are set in the Derbyshire Peak District including the deadly fire which inspired her latest novel, A Patient Fury. As well as writing, Sarah Ward also reviews crime fiction and is a judge for The Petrona Award for the best Scandinavian crime novel.   • 15 Nov - Author Event Deborah Swift

    Join us to hear author Deborah Swift talking about her new book, Pleasing Mr Pepys, a vivid re-imagining of events in Samuel Pepys' Diary. Historical fiction author Deborah Swift lives in North Lancashire on the edge of the Lake District. She used to work as a set and costume designer for theatre and TV. Deborah took an MA in Creative Writing in 2007 and now teaches writing classes, and offers editorial advice. Tickets 1 to include refreshments, available from Kendal Library

    Grange Over Sands Library

    A Macmillan volunteer will be in the library on the first Monday of the month (1pm - 2pm) to offer advice, answer queries etc. There is a permanent collection of books and cancer information leaflets which can be accessed anytime during library opening hours. 1st Monday of the month - 1.00 - 2.00pm

    Don't miss our weekly Storytime Sessions for the under-5s: Tales for Tiny Tots on Tuesdays at 2.00pm. Come and join in the fun of a good story or two with your children or grandchildren - they're never too young to join the Library, so you can borrow lots more books, story sacks, toy sacks, talking books or DVDs to enjoy with them at home. Early readers will enjoy all the books designed to help them read for themselves, and older brothers and sisters can choose from a wide range of popular authors and favourites. Windermere also has an excellent selection of non-fiction, from sports to space travel or from history to hydroelectricity which also supports their school topics.
