There are a range of travel options and support available to help people live independent lives.

The Blue Badge scheme provides a range of parking concessions for people with severe mobility problems who have difficulty using public transport, so that they can park close to where they need to go. The scheme is a Department for Transport scheme run by local councils and operates throughout the UK

The concessionary travel scheme provides free off peak travel on scheduled bus services for older people and people with disabilities.

For anyone aged 60 or over get 1/3 off Standard and First Class Anytime, Off Peak and Advance fares.

For people who have a disability that makes travelling by train difficult. Get 1/3 off Standard and First Class Anytime, Off-Peak and Advance fares for you and a friend.

Disabled Person's Railcard website

If you receive the higher rate component of Disability Living Allowance you, a member of your family or your carer, could be able to drive a new car under the Motability scheme.

Included in the deal will be 3 years free servicing, 3 years insurance cover and membership of the RAC or AA.
