Agricultural shed on fire in Carlisle

At 13:08 firefighters were called to a shed on fire on the A6071 Gaittle, Longtown, Carlisle. On arrival the crews found a fire involving an agricultural shed measuring 75 metres by 75 metres. The fire also involved a tractor and two hose reels were used to extinguish the flames. All livestock had been removed.

At 19:19 firefighters were called to a chimney glowing read in Lunefield Drive, Lonsdale and the occupier waited outside until firefighters arrived. They found a fire contained at the bottom of the chimney stack and used specialist equipment to extinguish the fire. Salvage sheets were also used to help protect property. A thermal imaging camera was then also used to check the chimney for hot spots before firefighters left.

At 07:37 firefighters were called to a road traffic collision in Mains Brow, Hallthwaites, Millom. The collision involved two vehicles with no one trapped. The crew assisted one casualty and police and ambulance staff attended.

At 18:07 firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a warehouse on Briar Lea Court. Mattresses were on fire in the warehouse which measured approximately 150 metres x 60 metres. Firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used a high pressure hose reel jet to bring the fire under control. A thermal imaging camera was then used to make sure there were no hotspots and a high pressure fan cleared smoke.

At 12:35 one fire engine from Ulverston was sent to a property on Weston Avenue in Ulverston. The police had requested the fire crew to test several unknown substances found at the property. Firefighters used wet testing and two breathing apparatus to confirm the substances as non-hazardous.

On arrival the crews found a fire involving the roof of a single storey bungalow and used three hose reels to extinguish the flames. All persons were accounted for and a thermal imaging camera was used to check the property. The crews were on scene for approximately three hours and 40 minutes

At 21:11 fire crews were called to a commercial building fire on Spittals Farm Road, Low Moor, Kirkby Thore. Three fire engines, two from Penrith and one from Appleby, attended the incident.
The fire involved a large industrial grain dryer and firefighters, two wearing breathing apparatus, used two hose reel jets, two CO2 extinguishers and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Crews were at the scene for three hours and 15 minutes.
