Children born between 01 September 1997 and 31 August 1998 are due to transfer to secondary school in September 2009.
The closing date for applications is 24 October 2008. This closing date is very important. Don't let your child miss out by applying late.
What do I need to do before I apply for a secondary school place?
Before you apply for a secondary school place it is important to read the information provided by the Local Authority.
An information booklet 'Transfer to Secondary School in Cumbria' is available from local primary schools and your local Children's Services Office. This booklet contains an application form and important information about the application and allocation processes. It also contains advice about school transport policy and an application form. It is very important to read the information regarding school transport policy, if school transport entitlement would affect your choice of school. How do I apply for a September 2009 secondary school place?
Remember that the closing date is 24 October 2008. This deadline is very important. Every parent of a child resident in Cumbria needs to make an application by this date, even if the preference is for a place at a school outside Cumbria.
You can complete the application form contained in the booklet 'Transfer to Secondary School in Cumbria' and return it to your child’s current school. If your child is not attending a school maintained by the Local Authority, you should return it to the Admissions and Student Support Team. What information do I need to apply online for a September 2009 secondary school place?
Before you can make your application online, you need the four digit DCSF establishment number for each of the three schools you are applying for and the three digit Local Authority (LA) reference number for the area in which they are situated. For Cumbrian schools, these can be found in the booklet 'Transfer to Secondary School in Cumbria'. If you are applying for a school place in another area, you can contact the Local Authority concerned.

Do I need anything else before I continue to make my online application?

Yes, you can view your application form once it has been submitted and you will still be able to do this after the closing date. You will need your unique user name and password.
Can I amend my application once it has been submitted?
