What about starting school in Cumbria in September 2009?
Children in Cumbria can begin their full-time primary education by entering a Reception class the September following their fourth birthday.
Children born between 01 September 2004 and 31 August 2005 can start school in September 2009.
The closing date for applications is 01 December 2008. This closing date is very important. Don't let your child miss out by applying late.
What do I need to do before I apply for a September 2009 Reception place?
Before you apply for a Reception place it is important to read the information provided by the Local Authority.
An information booklet 'Starting School in Cumbria' is available from local infant/primary schools and Children's Services offices. One is available for each District Council area. This booklet contains an application form and important information about the application and allocation processes. It also contains advice about school transport policy and an application form. It is very important to read the information regarding school transport policy, if school transport entitlement would affect your choice of school. How do I apply for a September 2009 Reception place at a school in Cumbria?
You need to remember that the closing date is 01 December 2008. This deadline is very important.
You can complete the application form contained in the information booklet 'Starting School in Cumbria' and return it to your first choice school or the Admissions and Student Support Team. A copy of this application form can be downloaded using the link below:

What information do I need to apply online for a September 2009 Reception place?
Before you can make your application online, you need the DCSF reference number for each of the three schools you are applying for. Do I need anything else before I continue to make my online application?
You will need a unique user name and password to submit your application. Please keep a note of what you decide to use in case you wish to return to your application later. For example you may wish to partially complete your application and submit it later or you may wish to view your application after it has been submitted.
Can I print a copy of my completed application form?
Yes, once you have completed your application you will be able to print a copy but you will need Adobe Acrobat installed on your pc.

Can I view my completed application form once it has been submitted?
Yes, you can view your application form once it has been submitted and you will still be able to do this after the closing date. You will need your unique user name and password.
Can I amend my application once it has been submitted?
