About Adult Social Care
Adult Social Care is a service with the Adult and Cultural Services directorate of Cumbria County Council. It is accountable to the public through democratically elected county councillors. Adult Social Care has the following areas:
Older people services providing assessments of need and arranging services for older people and their carers;
- Disability services providing assessments of need and arranging services for people with learning disabilities, people with physical disabilities and people with mental illnesses and their carers;
- Cumbria Care, the council's in house provider of care services such as residential care, home care and day care;
- Care Governance, which seeks continuous improvement of the quality of care services;
- Performance, which supports the service to manage and improve its performance;
- Supporting People providing financial help for people needing additional support and services as part of their housing;
- Support services providing a range of in house support services to Adult Social Care;
- Strategic finance providing budget and financial management support to the service; and
- Strategic human resources providing human resources and workforce planning to the service.
The links on the right provide more information about the Adult Social Care's role and the services we can arrange. Children's social care services are provided by our Children's Services directorate which also provides other children's services such as education and schools.
People interested in any social care services can find out more through Customer Services at local Cumbria County Council Adult Social Care offices. Customer Services can provide basic information about services and can arrange for people to see a member of our staff for an assessment of need.
